PARENTAL CONSENT FOR DECISIONS, INCLUDING MEDICAL DECISIONS
Prop One’s age “protection” could lead to underage minors making their own life decisions, including medical decisions, without their parents’ knowledge or permission. From dental work, to experimental drugs, to hormone blockers… For example, this proposed law (click here to read) which cuts parents out of the decision making altogether, and this NYS Department of Education Legal Update and Best Practices “guidance” booklet (read here) that directs schools to not tell parents when their child wants to transition, would become constitutional if Prop 1 passes!
PARENTAL CONTROL OVER EDUCATION
Prop One could result in schools incorporating comprehensive sex education and discussions on various gender ideologies to adhere to “non-discrimination” requirements, leaving parents a limited ability to influence curriculum decisions. For example, this proposed law (click here to read) which requires sex education be taught in all schools starting in KINDERGARTEN, would become constitutional if Prop 1 passes!
RELIGIOUS AND CULTURAL BELIEFS
Parents with religious or cultural beliefs could be forced to self-censor within their community, adjust cultural practices, and raise their child in a faithless environment to avoid possible legal issues. If everyone and everything is a “protected class,” then which class is “more protected” than the others?
